Harutyun Shahumyan is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Research Fellow on the EDGE Programme at CONNECT in UCD. EDGE is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie ‘COFUND’ Action.
Harut holds an Honours Master’s Degree in Applied Mathematics from Yerevan State University and a PhD in Statistics from the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia. He has over nine years of post-doctoral research experience in University College Dublin and the University of Maryland where his work was focused on land use, transportation and emission modelling, model integration, scenario development and data analysis.
He was a visiting researcher at the University of Cambridge and at New Zealand Landcare Research. Previously, he also worked as a GIS and Data Management expert in leading international organizations such as USAID, Emerging Markets Group, PA Consulting and Development Alternatives Inc.
Harut has over 50 publications and his current research interest includes big data analytics, IoT, sensors, machine learning, geospatial modelling, model integration, and application of spatial decision support systems for policy analysis.
