Jane O’Flynn

Research Fellow


Jane is a senior researcher, project manager and software designer in the Nimbus Centre at Cork Institute of Technology (CIT). She has considerable experience in Computing, Mathematics, Architecture and Building Energy. Here qualifications include Higher Diploma in Cloud Computing and Mobile Software Development from CIT, Master’s of Science in CAD from University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Bachelor of Architecture from UCD, BA (Honours) Mathematics at UCC and Certificate in Building Energy Rating from SEAI.

Jane coordinates, manages and develops national and European projects in Nimbus. She is programme coordinator for the Nimbus projects funded through CONNECT and CONFIRM (a new SFI research centre). She is the principle investigator on the Enterprise Ireland Commercialisation Fund programme project STEP4 focusing on short term electricity price forecasting and is leading a number of assisted living and age-friendly projects.

Prior to joining the Nimbus Centre, Jane built up many years of professional experience in architecture and building energy. She was lead architect on the Maternity Hospital at the New Royal Infirmary Edinburgh before returning to Ireland where she was partner and then principle at a Cork based architectural practice.
