Lara Codeca is an EDGE MSCA Research Fellow at CONNECT in Trinity College Dublin (TCD).
She received her PhD in Computer Science from the Interdisciplinary Centre of Security, Reliability, and Trust (University of Luxembourg) in 2016. She holds a BSc degree and MSc degree in Computer Science from the University of Bologna (Italy). In 2010 she won a travel grant from the University of Bologna that funded six months of MSc thesis in the research group of Prof. Mario Gerla at the Computer Science Department of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
Her expertise acquired during the PhD and her previous postdoctoral fellowship are in transportation planning and mobility optimization in the context of smart city studies. Her computer science background provides the right toolset for her to focus on transportation and mobility problems while taking into consideration telecommunications and technological challenges.
Her current research interest is the optimization of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and applications in the context of large-scale social events. Her EDGE project aims to provide dynamic traffic congestion mitigation strategies for large-scale social events using machine learning techniques.
