Dr. Mark Halton is a Senior Research Fellow and co-lead of the Circuits and Systems Research Centre (CSRC) in the Department of Electronic & Computer Engineering at the University of Limerick. He received his Masters and PhD Degrees from the University of Limerick in 2001 and 2004 respectively, and his primary Degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics (BA, BAI) in 1994 from Trinity College Dublin. His PhD focused on the area of multivariable robust control theory.
He joined CSRC in 2001 and currently leads the intelligent management power and control research within the centre. He has multiple principal investigator project expertise and has successfully supervised research students to PhD level.
His research interests include robust and adaptive control, switch mode power supplies, and LED lighting applications.
His work in the CONNECT focuses on the design and implementation of linear and nonlinear control algorithms for efficient and intelligent control of switch mode power supplies targeted at low power commercial applications.
To date he has authored over 40 peer-reviewed publications, holds 1 Irish and 1 US patent, and has successfully licenced outputs from his research projects.
