Omer Farooq

Research Fellow


Dr. Muhammad Umer Farooq is a Research Fellow at CONNECT in the Nimbus Centre at Cork Institute of Technology

He earned his Dr.-Ing., MS (Computer Engineering), and BS (Computer Science) from University of Luebeck, Germany, the University of Engineering and Technology Taxila, Pakistan, and Virtual University of Pakistan respectively. He was a post-doctoral researcher in MISL at University College Cork, Ireland, and he hasĀ also served as an Assistant Professor at National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, Pakistan.

He has more than 8 years on experience in designing protocols for mobile ad hoc networks, wireless sensor networks, Internet of Things, and HetNets. His research work focuses on quality of service, routing protocols, admission control algorithms, and interoperability in Internet of Things.

He has more than 30 publications as a first author in peer-reviewed international journals and conferences. He is an Associate Editor of IEEE Access and Editor of KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Systems. He is a technical program committee member of many International conferences, e.g., IEEE WiMob, IEEE MoWNeT, and ADHOCNETS. He has also served as a session chair in many IEEE conferences.
