Prajwal Doddaballapura Lakshmijayasimha is a PhD researcher at CONNECT in Dublin City University.
He graduated from Visvesvaraya Technological University, India, in 2013 with Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics and Communications. In 2016, he earned his Master of Science degree in Electrical Communication Engineering with specialisation in Optoelectronics from the University of Kassel, Germany. During his master’s studies, he joined Advanced Optical Communication group at the German Aerospace Centre (DLR), Munich, as a research thesis student. Here, he investigated intensity scintillation in Gaussian-beam propagation far from the optical axis in atmospheric laser links.
In 2017, he joined the School of Electronics Engineering in Dublin City University, as a PhD student on SFI-CDA project PROTON (Programmable Multicarrier Transmitter for Flexible Optical Network), under the supervision of Dr Prince Anandarajah and Dr Aleksandra Kaszubowska. His research focuses on developing cost-effective and reconfigurable multicarrier transmitter for next generation optical communication system. His multifaceted research work involves fundamental research: optical frequency comb generation, advanced filtering techniques; applied science research: investigation of comb expansion techniques, photonically integrable comb source; hardware programming: development of FPGA-controlled software defined optical transmitters and verification by employing advanced modulation format and many more.
