Dr Sahan Wasala is a CONNECT Research Fellow at Trinity College Dublin with a background in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Computational Aeroacoustics (CAA).
Sahan holds a specialized Master’s degree in aircraft engineering from Saint Petersburg State University of Civil Aviation, Russia (2009) and a PhD in wind turbine aeroacoustics from the University of Auckland, New Zealand (2016).
Sahan completed his first postdoctoral fellowship at Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden (2016 – 2019), on the EU funded project IMAGE, where he conducted research on noise modelling of high-lift devices and landing gears and investigated the possible uses of dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma actuators for aircraft noise and drag control.
In 2020, he joined SFI CONNECT on a research project focused on Aeroacoustic Modelling, Analysis & Synthesis of Data Center Systems to Enable HDD Tracking Extendibility.
Research Interests: Aerodynamics, Aeroacoustics, Fans, Wind turbines, Electric aircraft
