Vanessa Pulgarin

Management & Operations

Vanessa Pulgarin is Coordinator of the Cork Smart Gateway.

Cork Smart Gateway is an initiative established by CONNECT via its ENABLE research programme in partnership with Cork City Council and Cork County Council. It complements and supports the already large number of organisations in Cork that are working on smart initiatives in areas such as energy efficiency, energy management, transportation and mobility, and digital technologies.

Vanessa holds an MSc in International Public Policy & Diplomacy from UCC and a Postgraduate Diploma in Planning and Management of Development Cooperation Interventions.

She has engaged with a broad range of local, national, and international stakeholders, attending and representing organisations at high-level conferences such as the UNFCCC COP24 and the European Week of Regions and Cities.

She has also had the opportunity to promote and organise capacity-building workshops, create communications content and advocate on working groups and forums focused on Smart Tourism, Smart Economy and Smart Mobility.

Her professional interests are focused on sustainable cities and communities, building resilient societies and economies by developing tools that will help cities become truly smart and sustainable, improving urban planning and management in participatory and inclusive ways.

She has also participated in programmes such as Ireland’s International Students Ambassadors and Canada’s Global Youth Leaders.
