A World of Cities – Prof Glaeser

Professor Edward Glaeser is the Fred and Eleanor Glimp Professor of Economics in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University.

Professor Glaeser will discuss the role that cities play in the world from the success of urban areas in the west to the rapid transformation of the developing world into urbanized areas. He will discuss the benefits that these processes have yielded as well as the tremendous challenges that continue ahead.

Professor Glaeser has published a wide range of research in the field of urban economics, studying cities, economic growth, and law in economics. In particular, his work has focused on the determinants of city growth and the role of cities as centres of idea transmission. He has served as Director of the Taubman Center for State and Local Government and Director of the Rappaport Institute for Great Boston.
