Congratulations to Dr Majid Butt who is now a Senior Member of IEEE. Majid is already heavily involved in IEEE activities, serving as an associate editor for IEEE’s Access Journal. He has also been demo co-chair for CROWNCOM 2015, and co-chair for IEEE’s WCNC 2016 GRASNET workshop.
Majid received his PhD in telecommunications from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim in 2011. He also holds a Masters Degree in Digital Communications from Christian Albrechts University (CAU), Kiel, Germany (2005). Prior to working as a research fellow at Connect at Trinity College Dublin, he was a senior researcher at Qatar University.
Majid was awarded the Alain Bensoussan post-doctoral fellowship from the European Research Consortium for Informatics and Mathematics (ERCIM) in 2011. He held ERCIM postdoctoral fellow positions at Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute (HHI) in Berlin and at the University of Luxembourg’s Interdisciplinary Center for Research in Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT).
Majid’s research interests span the physical and medium access layers, and the cross-layer aspects of wireless communications including radio resource allocation, cooperative communications, cognitive radio, green radio communication and energy harvesting communications.
