Gearóid Farrell is a CONNECT Research Assistant at Trinity College Dublin.
He received a Master of Engineering (MAI) from Trinity College Dublin in 2022, with a thesis titled “Passive/Active Flow Control for Drag Reduction on a Cylinder in Cross-flow”. Prior to this, he received a BAI in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering from Trinity College Dublin in 2021.
Gearóid joined as a Research Assistant in 2023 on a project in association with the Toyota Research Institute of North America (TRINA). His work focuses on the development of optimised heatsinks through Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) with applications for sustainable aviation.
Gearóid’s main expertise is in CFD for external flow and heat transfer. He also has experience in experimental fluid dynamics research, as well as advanced 3D-printing of porous and lattice structures.
