Neil Curtis is a CONNECT PhD researcher at the Tyndall National Institute under the joint supervision of Dr James Rohan & Dr Colm O’Dwyer.
After receiving his BSc in Chemical Physics from University College Cork, Neil began his doctoral studies in 2022, focusing on developing sustainable materials for use in microbatteries. As the demand for energy storage devices grows over the next decade, the increasing strain on supply chains will result in shortages and competition for resources. By working to develop batteries based on more abundant and sustainable materials, this research is primarily working towards supporting the growth of the sustainable Internet of Things (WG2).
While his current research focus is primarily based in the lab, Neil also has a background in computational and numerical techniques and is passionate about public education and engagement.
