Rajesh Nimmagadda is a CONNECT Research Fellow at Trinity College Dublin.
He completed a PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on CFD and Heat Transfer from Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad in 2017, with a thesis titled “Experimental and numerical study on the heat transfer performance of nanofluids in micro-channel and mini-enclosure”. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Thermal Engineering as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering both from India. Prior to joining CONNECT, he also worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at Tel-Aviv University in two projects funded by the Israeli Nuclear Research Authority and the Israeli Science Foundation. He also spent few years in India as an Assistant Lecturer and as a Research Faculty to teach and train students of both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He published 20+ research articles with 500+ citations holding an h-index above 10.
Rajesh joined as a Post-Doctoral Researcher in 2023 on two projects each independently associated with Huawei and Toyota Research Institute of North America (TRINA). His work focuses on the development of optimised heatsinks through Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) towards electronics cooling with applications for sustainable aviation.
Rajesh’s main expertise is in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and heat transfer. He also worked on experimental heat transfer involving heat pipes, nanofluids towards cooling of next generation electronics. His research activities include multi-scale convective heat transfer in electronics thermal management using enhanced natural and forced air cooling, active flow control for sustainable energy technologies, and improved waste heat recovery.
