Sara Battaglioli is a Research Fellow at CONNECT in Trinity College Dublin.
She completed a PhD in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering from Trinity College Dublin in 2018, with a thesis titled “Numerical modelling of directional solidification in metal alloys”. Prior to this, she received a BSc in Aerospace Engineering, and an MSc in Aeronautical Engineering from University of Rome “La Sapienza”.
Sara joined SFI project ESIPP as a postdoctoral researcher in 2018, focussing on the numerical investigation of thermo-fluid flow in data centre servers, with the objective of enhancing air flow management to maximize the potential for waste heat recovery.
Sara’s main expertise is in advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and heat transfer. Her research activities include multi-scale convective heat transfer in electronics thermal management using enhanced natural and forced air cooling, active flow control for sustainable energy technologies, and improved waste heat recovery.
