Valeria Nico is a PhD student at Stokes Laboratories in the University of Limerick. She is currently working on multi-degree-of-freedom nonlinear electromagnetic devices for vibrational energy harvesting.
In 2011 she received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Perugia, Italy, where she worked on linear piezoelectric membranes for energy harvesting. In 2013 she was awarded the Master’s degree from University of Perugia, Italy, with a thesis on nonlinear piezoelectric membranes for energy harvesting. She did a six month internship in 2014 at Bell Labs Ireland and published in Applied Physics Letters on the work done during the internship.
She attended the ASME SMASIS2014, the ASME SMASIS2015 and the IDTechEx Energy Harvesting Europe held in Berlin in 2016. She received the best paper award at the 4th SMARTGREENS Conference.
