Abstract: As edge networks become more reliant on optical communication, they are placing new latency and efficiency requirements on optical networks and a greater emphasis on system functionality. This talk will examine trends towards edge network driven innovation and present recent progress on testbed experiments and system emulation to study physical layer functionality at scale and integrated within complex multilayer software control environments.

The lecture is organised by Prof. Biswanath Mukherjee and Prof. Gangxiang Shen.
