Dr Sasi Balasubramaniam has collected the Outstanding Academic Achievement award at the 2019 Technology Ireland awards on behalf of researchers at TSSG in Waterford Institute of Technology. The award recognised the team’s research on the use of DNA for data storage.
The team’s ‘Digital DNA Storage Infrastructure of the Future’ project looks at how large amounts of information can be stored in DNA saving energy and space when compared to data centres.
