Hadi Tabatabaee

Associate Investigator


Hadi Tabatabaee is a CONNECT Research Fellow at University College Dublin.

Hadi Tabatabaee Malazi is an assistant professor at University College Dublin (UCD), School of Computer Science, where his research concentrates on Edge Computing. Receiving a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the University of Isfahan (2012) and getting invaluable experience as a visiting Ph.D. student at the Technical University of Delft (2010-2011), he has established himself as a dedicated researcher in distributed systems.

Before joining UCD, Hadi served as an assistant professor at Maynooth University (2022-2023), an occasional lecturer at Trinity College Dublin (2021), and an assistant professor at Shahid Beheshti University (2013-2019). He also worked as a research fellow in the ENABLE research program at CONNECT, Trinity College Dublin (2019-2022).

Hadi’s research line lies in Edge Computing, focused on sustainable computing and service orchestration in distributed systems. His insights and expertise span various distributed systems, encompassing smart cities, smart homes, human activity recognition, and social sensing systems. Hadi has made impactful contributions to these areas, publishing 20 Journal papers with prestigious publishers, including IEEE, Elsevier, and Springer.

With enthusiasm for collaborative research, Hadi has had the privilege of working alongside diverse researchers worldwide, which has driven his motivation to foster multi-disciplinary collaboration within academia. As an Assistant Professor, Hadi is committed to promoting multi-disciplinary collaboration in academia and facilitating joint research between academia and industry to bridge the gap between theoretical insights and practical applications.
